Spinocerebellum/Paleocerebellar Pathway -Most & the afferent fibers of this pathway is from spinal cord. Thats what it is called for - Thar function is actination coordination of gross movement of the body. They are afferent fibers. -Dorsal Aventral spinocerebellar, Cuneocerebellar, Trigemino- cerebellar are all nonconcious pop proprioceptive pathungs in the spinocerebellar pathways that enter the cerebellum via inferior arebellar peduncle. Efferents of this pathway, starts from puckinje cell, some go out directly and others synapse with Emboliform and globus nuclei. Axons of this second order neuron goes out thragh Superior Cerebellar peduncle. Some of these neverons sympse in the red nucleus of brain stein while others synapse with a Controlaterally) Hhind order neuron in the Thalamus, then to the cortex. Then, Via Forticospinal tract the cortex Coordinates the gross movement. Archeocerebellum also recieves impulse fibers from divary complex of brainstem (climbing fibers) Neocerebellar/cerebrocerebellar pathway There is a closed loop between the cerebrum & cerebellum. This means that information of this pathway goes from the cerebrum/cortex to the Cerebellum, and again to the ter cerebral cortex cerebellum is not only involved on jo medor function but also in higher cortical function D 6x memory, judgment anticipollyngattention -Types of information goes from the brain cortex to the cerebellum-Concious propriosephon from the body Information produced by the brain Afferent path of this pathway has two neurons. First neuron is located in any part of the cortex. Axons f these neurons come down as corticoponline libers. They decend to the pons where they Synapse with the second order neuran. Axons of the second order neuron cross the midline, and enter the cerebellum via middle cerebellar peduncle. The other name for this pathway is corticopantocerebellar pathway Climbing fibers also take part in this pathway After Synapsing a secondorder neuron in the dentate nucleus of carebelum Efferents of this pathury have their first order neuron in purkinje cells. It goes out of the verebellum via interior Cerebellar peduncle. Very few fibers synapse with the red. nucleus. The rest of the fibers Synapse in the thalamus. Usually, even the efferint libers oss the midline. Axons of the third order neuron geo then continue to the cortex • Middle cerebellar peduncle only has afferent fibers passing Superior Gerebellar peduncles is mostly efferent fibers. with a few small afferent libers In cerebrocerebellar pathway, both afferent & efferent fibers cross the midline because cerebellum is responsible for Ipsilateral functions, so efferent fibers should also decussate so it returns back to the point of stort MIT AT
