Poetry Slam Graphic Organizer Part 1: Paste your 10+ line poem below. Highlight three poetic devices in yellow. Highlight the rhyme scheme in blue and mark the pattern letters. Highlight two instances of strong imagery in pink. This should be very detailed! TOASTT Step 1: Title Step 2: Own Words Step 3: Analyze Poetic Devices Details Refers to the main character. Its Name refers to the fact that the overthinking thinker, comes up with too many thoughts to keep track of, hence the overthinking part of the title. The poems about a guy who keeps coming up with ideas but forgets the most important ones when he needs them. The poem falls under the narrative limerick category. The poem personifies thoughts as being able to come and go as they place from the thinker’s head. It uses imagery with the thought of the sky on a rainy day and the golen knight . It also uses onomatopoeia with “ the overthinking thinker thought”. The rhyme scheme is ABABCDCDEFEF The poem shifts using dashes Annotations “The overthinking thinker thinks a million thoughts” “He tries to hold on to ones that he needs. This is because the ideas themselves are ridiculous and filled with various imagery, but the poems idea is very relatable. He finds that the needed thought’s leave before he gets to know them. The theme is getting distracted while trying to think of ideas for a poem. I choose this theme as I had a very hard time thinking of ideas for my poem. “He tries to hold on to ones that he needs. In a paragraph of 8-10 sentences (150-200 words), explain how and why, as the author, you used the TOASTT features to create a work of art. Be sure to cite from your poem in your explanation and discuss the features you noted in the previous chart. If you need to make any changes to your original draft of your poem after completing the organizer, please do so. The revised poem will then be included in Part 4. I used the TOASTT features in order to double check my poem to make sure it fit the requirements. The title didn’t need anything so I kept that the same The own words made me fix a few spelling errors I had in the poem. The analytic devices were good too and didn’t need any add ons. The shifts portion made me realize I forgot to add some dashes, so I fixed that. Tone was a bit difficult but ultimately felt it was silly sounding in its word usage. Finally the theme was pretty straight forward as it was literally spelt out at the end. Part 4: Multimedia Project You must create a Power Point for our Poetry Slam! Include an introduction slide with the title and your name (Slide 1).
