I‭nfluence of the (internal) organization on administrative information management‬ ‭systems‬ ‭The advancing information technology developments and the increasing awareness of the‬ ‭s ignificance of ICT for the achievement of the organization's goals (information is sometimes‬ ‭referred to as the fourth production factor) led to drastic developments in the field of‬ ‭administrative information provision, on the one hand with regard to the content of the‬ ‭information provision, on the one hand, and on the other hand, where this concerns the‬ ‭technical capabilities of the automated systems to provide the desired information.‬ ‭ ot only is a good information system a prerequisite for a good organization and‬ N ‭good control of business processes, but conversely the presence of a good internal‬ ‭organization is also a prerequisite for the efficient functioning of administrative‬ ‭information provision.‬ ‭ICT trends and their consequences for the design of future organizations‬ ‭ his section discusses two clusters of ICT trends:‬ T ‭-‬ ‭ICT applications that have a major influence on the design of business processes and‬ c‭ ommunication within and between organizations. This concerns Workflow‬ ‭management, Call centers, Electronic mail and Electronic Data Interchange;‬ ‭-‬ I‭CT applications that are important for organizations that work with large‬ ‭amounts of (unstructured) data and for which the accessibility and‬ ‭distribution of this data are crucial. Applications within this cluster are Data‬ ‭warehousing, Internet, Intranet and Groupware.‬ ‭ICT applications with a major influence on process design‬ ‭W orkflow management (WFM):‬ ‭ orkflow management focuses on automating and digitizing paper information‬ W ‭flows in data-intensive processes. Developments that are inextricably linked to‬ ‭workflow management are Documentary Information System (DIS) and‬ ‭Imaging. These are applications for digitizing paper information carriers‬ ‭(scanning).‬ ‭Call Centers:‬ ‭ call center is an innovation of the telephone exchange function within‬ A ‭organizations. An example of call center technology that everyone has to deal with‬ ‭at some point are the 'automatic answering machines' that call the caller through a‬ ‭hierarchical question structure to subsequently achieve the desired result (e.g.‬ ‭ordering goods, transferring money, obtaining specific information). The use of‬ ‭c all centers can contribute to optimizing business processes in various ways:‬ ‭-‬ ‭Call centers support the philosophy of the separation between the front office (directly in relation to‬ ‭ xternal‬ e ‭parties) and back office (internal department) of organizations;‬ ‭-‬ ‭Call centers reduce waiting times for callers and help callers get to the right place‬ ‭faster;‬ -‭ ‬ C ‭ all centers can be integrated with workflow management; Call‬ ‭-‬ ‭c enters can be used to outsource/insource activities.‬ ‭Electronic mail:‬ ‭It is possible to communicate with one user or with multiple users at the same time.‬ ‭Electronic Data Interchange (EDI):‬ ‭ lectronic Data Interchange is the electronic communication between organizations‬ E ‭based on structured messages. This means that concrete agreements/protocols have‬ ‭been established that the messages must comply with if they are to be processed by‬ ‭the recipient.‬
