Where‬ ‭previously designing and building an application in the context of system development‬ ‭was a common choice, the purchase of a standard package has now become an‬ ‭attractive alternative.‬ ‭ special form of standard packages are so-called Enterprise Resource Planning‬ A ‭packages (ERP). Such an ERP package often consists of various modules that‬ ‭c an be integrated with each other that support different business functions and is‬ ‭generally composed of the following components:‬ ‭-‬ ‭A user interface; A‬ ‭-‬ ‭programming language;‬ ‭-‬ ‭Programming tools and utilities; Data‬ ‭-‬ ‭management services; An operating‬ ‭-‬ ‭interface system.‬ ‭ hese packages are specially designed to support the information management of an‬ T ‭entire organization. An ERP system is very flexible during design/implementation, but‬ ‭once implemented it is much less flexible.‬ ‭System Development Methodology‬ ‭ n example of a traditional system development method that covers all phases in a‬ A ‭previously outlined framework is the SDM (System Development Methodology). SDM is‬ ‭strongly focused on the control of the different phases.
