This primary‬ ‭objective is referred to as the‬‭defensive objective where‬‭the availability of funds and‬ ‭continuity are paramount.‬‭In addition, the‬‭management of the company's management is‬ ‭also‬‭a more offensive objective to‬‭the treasury function. In that context, the treasury‬ ‭department has an independent function, if possible with a profit motive (‬‭profit center).‬
