Mitosis Fill-In Notes
Cell Division
MITOSIS - Nuclear division
Prophase
Metaphase
Anaphase
Telophase
Cytokinesis - Cytoplasm divides
G₀- cell stop dividing
(Ex: nerve cell)
Stages of Mitosis
Prophase
1st dividing phase
DNA (Chromatin) scrunches into chromosomes
Nuclear membrane & nucleolus disappear
Spindle fibers form & attach to chromosomes
Centrioles appear in centrosome region & move to poles
Centrosome egion organizes spindle
Spindle MICROTUBULES are part of cytoskeleton
Metaphase
Chromosomes line up in middle of the cell
Anaphase
Centromeres split
Centrioles pull chromatids apart
-Chromatid arms separate and
move to opposite ends of the cell
Telophase (See z nuclei)
"Reverse Prophase"
Nuclear membrane & nucleolus return
Chromosomes spread out
Centrioles disappear
Spindle fibers disappear
Cytokinesis
Cytoplasm splits into 2 cells
