Electrostatics Electrostatic field follows following properties → Ē → should be independent of time ∇ × Ē = 0 or ∮ E · dl = 0 Stoke's theorem ∮ E · dl = ∫(∇ × Ē) · ds ∇ × Ē = 0 → Conservative, Electrostatic, Irrotational Electrostatic field is produced by Stationary Charges. Velocity (v) = 0 Electric field Calculated by two methods. (i) Coulomb's law No Requirement of Symmetry. (ii) Gauss law Charge should be symmetric. σ(φ) = σ₀cos(φ) 0 ≤ φ ≤ π Shape is symmetric but charge distribution is not symmetric
