Andrea Borg Professor Ethics 10/7/2021 Journal Personally, I don’t see a problem with our culture’s sexual convention. I think it is a very opinionated topic that is very popular in the world now a days. I think it is very common in our society to have sex for your own pleasure rather then the common good of the relationship, however, it seems like society has accepted this and thinking about it I feel like it is kind of hard to have sex with the only intention of your own pleasure when during the act of sex both parties are having pleasure. Discussing what we were saying in class, I believe that it is wrong to just believe that you have to have sex for the intention of having kids because I believe that sex is a general thing in a relationship to show love between each other. Also, I disagree with the belief of only being allowed to have sex after marriage because I think it is a normal thing for humans to do, to simply feel pleasure or to show some what of a connection with another individual. I personally believe that having sex just for the sake of it is a problem, for example I don’t agree with having sex after a night out where both individuals are intoxicated with substances because that wont be true pleasure and just doing it for the sake of it, also the two individuals are not in any sort of relationship or tend to be in a relationship and one could go to the point that there is no common good there but simply just pleasure. Overall, I do not think our sexual convention is a major problem in our society as it is just a way of life for many people. I do think it is a problem of what we discussed in class about porn and how there is a lot of violence in it which is something I do not agree with at all, I’m not against porn but there definitely shouldn’t be violence or anything illegal.
