Pronouns and Antecedents
1. A pronoun takes the place of a noun or nouns in a sentence. They may be singular or
plural.
2. An antecedent is the noun (or nouns) to which the pronoun refers.
Ex: Justin took his test Friday and he did well.

3. Pronoun and their antecedent must agree in both number and gender (male/female).
Ex: Our friends told us about a concert they are going to.

Ex: Mom liked my picture and she said it was pretty.

4. Antecedents may or may not appear in the same sentence as their related pronoun.
Ex: The animals cannot find food. They are hunger during the winter.
