It involves several steps: Observation: The process begins with observation, where scientists collect data and gather information about a specific phenomenon or problem. Hypothesis: Based on observations, scientists formulate a hypothesis—a testable explanation for the observed phenomenon. Publication: If the research is deemed credible, it is published in scientific journals, making it available to the broader scientific community. Characteristics of Living Organisms Living organisms share several key characteristics: Cells: All living things are composed of one or more cells. Cells are the basic units of life and can be unicellular or multicellular. Organization: Living organisms exhibit a high degree of organization, from cells to tissues, organs, and organ systems. Energy Utilization: Organisms acquire and use energy to perform life processes, such as growth, reproduction, and metabolism. Experimentation: Scientists design experiments to test their hypotheses. Tissues: Cells with similar functions group together to form tissues. For example, muscle tissue is composed of muscle cells.
