The Role of Students in Efforts to Improve the Tourism Sector Due to the Impact of Covid-19 Currently, the world is being shocked by a virus that is spreading very quickly and widely throughout the world, namely the corona virus. Because it spread so quickly and widely, this virus was finally declared a global pandemic and currently we know this pandemic as COVID-19. Indonesia is one of the countries affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and of course not only one region has been infected by this virus but almost all regions in Indonesia have started to be infected by this pandemic. The COVID-19 pandemic has become a hot topic of conversation for all mankind. As we know, this virus spreads so quickly and widely from human to human that anyone can be infected with COVID-19. And more fatally, COVID-19 can cause death to the human body. This will of course give rise to fear and anxiety in everyone when carrying out activities outside the home. But don't panic too much because the government is certainly not silent about this pandemic. The government issued regulations regarding healthy living so that we can avoid this pandemic. However, even though the government has issued regulations to avoid the COVID-19 pandemic, these regulations are still not fully implemented well and many people are affected by this virus, in fact increasing every day. Finally, various impacts emerged in all fields throughout the world. Fields affected by COVID-19 have certainly experienced a decline. The government has provided programs to solve problems, but the government still needs support for this. For this reason, young people who have more enthusiasm and potential are expected to be able to help encourage regulations and solve the COVID-19 problem. Suitable young people are students. Students have an integrity and critical attitude that can become agents of change. Therefore, students must play an active role in efforts to improve every field affected by this pandemic. One of the fields is tourism. The tourism sector is a sector that is given considerable attention in various countries because this sector contributes quite a large amount of foreign exchange to each country. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the tourism sector was finally affected impact. Some of the impacts are a decrease in tourists, several tourist destinations were forced to close, a lack of tourists staying in hotels, workers in the tourism world were forced to be laid off. Of the several impacts mentioned, of course the tourism sector has experienced a decline due to a lack of income and tourist arrivals. Because we know that the world of tourism will definitely be related to tourists, while currently everyone is being asked to stay at home. To overcome the impact of COVID-19 in the tourism sector, the government has anticipated solving problems, such as calling on every tourist destination or hotel that is open to continue implementing COVID-19 SOPs, running a virtual traveling program, namely a vacation that is carried out visually from home. The aim is to ensure that tourist areas remain safe and maintained and increase tourist confidence in the tourism sector. Not only the government, the tourism sector definitely needs a lot of other support to increase tourist confidence. This encourages students to play an active role in helping overcome the impact of COVID-19 in the tourism sector by helping increase tourist confidence. And we know that the quick way to overcome this pandemic is to stop its spread. With this, as students we must take a role in overcoming the impact of COVID 19 on the tourism sector starting from small things. The first is not to visit tourist areas first so that the spread does not become wider and during the postpandemic period, tourists will still believe in it visit tourist areas. The two students play a role in supporting and disseminating government programs that have been carried out in the tourism sector, for example holding virtual traveling so that you stay at home and tourist areas are maintained. The third role of students in overcoming the impact of the pandemic in the tourism sector is to participate in promoting post-COVID-19 tourist areas on social media that tourist areas are safe and can be used. With the three student roles that have been mentioned, the distribution chain will quickly decrease and can restore tourist confidence and ultimately the tourism sector can experience an increase again.
