03.01 Isolationism, Intervention, and Imperialism Isolationism: The United States declined to give aid to Hungarian patriots in 1849. The united states declines to give aid to the Hungarian Patriots in 1849 due to the fact the united states didn't want to be involved with the Hungarian revolution war, but not only did they not want to get involved in the war but they didn't like it when Austria didn't offer them a free path to get to Hungary. The United states also didn't think the war would work out considering the incompetence of the revolutionary leaders. The United States didn't think helping out the war was going to mean it would succeed considering Hungary was getting involved with the Soviet Union and America didn't want to be in that situation fighting with The Soviet Union. __________________________________________________________________________ intervention: The United States proposed the Open-Door Policy in 1899. The United States proposed the Open-Door policy to freely trade with china. China's regulations limited most foreign trades from a few countries. China was a mostly closed country when it came to trading, and this almost caused countries ( like Great Britain, Germany, France, Italy, Japan, and Russia) to start a country war between china. But, The United States at the time made an open trade policy with china, which meant china had to freely trade with others. __________________________________________________________________________ imperialism: The United States annexes Samoa in 1899. The United States Annexes and claims Samoa as part of their territory in 1899. In 1899 this was the year that The United States and Germany claimed islands. Germany got Western islands and The United States got eastern islands, like Samoa. The reason the United States got these eastern islands are from signing a treaty in 1878 for the establishment of the naval station in Pa go Harbor. In 1904 The United States ended up having all eastern islands claimed by themselves.
