Ponyboy is at the movies by himself because he enjoys movies and sometimes prefers to be alone to watch them. 2) Who are the “Greasers”? Why do they have this name? How do they behave? The "Greasers" are a group of lower-class teenagers from the East Side of town. They have this name because they wear their hair long and use grease to style it. They behave as tough and rebellious individuals who often get into trouble and have a reputation for being outsiders 3) Who are the “Socs”? Why do greasers hate them? The "Socs" are short for Socials, and they are the wealthier, privileged teenagers from the West Side of town. Greasers hate them because they perceive the Socs as having an easier life, more opportunities, and looking down on them. There is a deep-seated rivalry between the two groups. 4) What happened to Ponyboy’s parents? Who does he live with? Ponyboy's parents died in a car accident. He lives with his two older brothers, Darry and Sodapop. 5) What is the difference between “tough” and “tuff”? The difference between "tough" and "tuff" lies in their spelling. "Tough" refers to someone who is strong, resilient, and able to endure hardship, while "tuff" is a slang or colloquial spelling of "tough" often used in informal contexts.
