As we learned in Structure of Nuclers Aads, DNA, and RNA are made up by sequences of nitroger bases- pairs: adeline, thy mine, guanine, an a cytaure, scientist man problem lay in the fact that while there were only 4 nitrogen bases (nacleo tides), there were 20 amino aads for which those nucleotdes had to code. If adenine, thymine, guanine, and Cytosine each coded for a particular am no ald. then the ONA/MRNA Information system would only be alde to code for 4 amino oads. it, however, groups of two nucles tides had to coded for a single amino acid, the story is somewhat different. Given four muced tides looked at in groups of two, there are sixteen possible combinations (AA, AT, AG, AC,TA, TT, 1G TC. GA, GT. GG, G C. CA. CT, CG. CC) .
