Due to the claims made by Abagail in which she has accused Elizabeth of being a witch the towns folk are against Elizabeth and do not sympathise nor believe her. In the book of record that Mr. Parris keeps, I note that you are rarely in the church on Sabbath Day. Hale: Twenty-six time in seventeen month, sir. I must call that rare. Proctor: Since we built the church there were pewter candle-sticks upon the altar; Francis Nurse made them, y’know, and a sweeter hand never touched the metal.
