A step-by-step guide to embed videos from YouTube
and other helpful strategies
Embedding your YouTube Video
1. Go to YouTube's website and
log in.
2. Find the video you wish to add
to Canvas
3. Click on the title of the video
you wish to embed
4. Next, click "share" then
"Embed"
The "share" link is located at
the bottom right hand of the
video 5. Another screen will pop up with the
embed code. Click the "Copy" link to copy
the embed code.
Next:
Go to Canvas and open the page, quiz, or
assignment that you'd like to embed the
video in
6. Once you are at the page you'd like to
embed, click on EDIT to add information to
the page and the "HTML Editor"
7. Find the area you'd like the video to be
placed (pasted). If you are unfamiliar with
HTML, place the video embed code at the
very top of the page. I added mine in
between some text and paragraph breaks
8. Next, either click back to the "Rich
Content Editor" or press, "Save" to see the
embedded video
You should be able to see your video now
embedded in your canvas page.
The student should be able to click
on the title of the video to see the
video in YouTube, play the video
within the Canvas page, or make the
video full screen. You can also SEARCH for YouTube videos within Canvas or add
them with the Insert/Edit media function in the Rich Text
Toolbar

Note: If your video is private or unlisted, searching for your video
may not be possible. You will need to embed or provide your
students with a link
