This process aims to convert waste into ash, gas and heat. Waste that is burned includes solid waste, liquid waste, or gas waste. The process of burning waste produces heat energy which can be used to produce electricity or heat. In addition, this process can also reduce the volume of waste by turning it into ash, thereby reducing the need for final waste disposal space. However, the incineration process also produces exhaust gas which can pollute the air if not treated properly. Therefore, incinerators are equipped with air pollution control systems to reduce emissions of harmful gases such as nitrogen oxides, sulfur dioxide and particulates. In addition, waste from combustion needs to be processed further to ensure that the ash produced is safe for disposal. The application of incineration can be useful in managing solid waste, especially waste that is difficult to recycle or that is harmful to the environment if disposed of in landfills. However, because of the air pollution problems that may arise, incineration is often controversial and must be strictly regulated by environmental regulations. In the context of waste processing, incineration can be the right choice for managing nonorganic solid waste that is difficult to recycle or has a high potential for environmental pollution. Some examples of waste that are often processed through the incineration process include medical waste, hazardous waste, industrial waste and domestic waste that cannot be recycled easily. Energy utilization: Burning waste produces heat energy which can be used to produce electricity or heat. This can reduce dependence on conventional energy sources. 3. Hazardous waste processing: Incineration can remove or reduce hazardous contaminants in waste, thereby reducing the risk of environmental pollution and human health. Challenge: 1. Air pollution: The process of burning waste produces exhaust gases and particulates which can pollute the air if not treated properly. An effective air pollution control system is needed to reduce harmful gas emissions. 2. Ash management: Ash produced from incineration contains unburned waste residue and hazardous materials that need further processing. Proper management and disposal of ash is also a challenge that needs to be overcome. 3. Cost: Building and operating an incinerator requires a large investment. In addition, the costs of air pollution management and ash management also need to be considered. The application of incineration in waste management requires a careful approach and taking into account various aspects, including environmental impacts, public health and economic efficiency. Therefore, strict regulations and advanced technology are needed to ensure that this process is carried out safely and sustainably.
