The Historical Constitution of Hungary as a Symbol Presented by: Dr. Schweitzer Date: 15 November 2023 The National Avowal of the Fundamental Law - “(…) We honor the achievements of our historic Constitution and the Holy Crown, which embodies the constitutional continuity of Hungary and the unity of the nation. - We believe that the protection of our identity, rooted in our historic constitution, is a fundamental obligation of the state. - We do not recognize the suspension of our historic constitution due to foreign occupations. (...)" Fundamental Law Article R (3) - “The provisions of the Fundamental Law shall be interpreted in accordance with their purposes, the National Avowal contained therein and the achievements of our historic constitution.” - Geyza Ferdinandy (1902): • The Holy Crown as one of the basic institutions of the historical constitution is the symbol of the supreme power of the state. - István Egyed: • Our Constitution (1943)  The Holy Crown is considered to be the mystical personification of Hungarian statehood and also the symbol of constitutional kingdom. - Ákos Timon (1907): • It is the mystery of the Holy Crown that the Hungarian nation is united with its emperor within the Holy Crown.
