Data Population What is a Data Source? Data sources are defined as statistical data obtained through official institutions such as the government or by private institutions or individuals. The data can be in the form of graphs, numbers, tables and various other forms of statistical data. In Indonesia itself, the agency that regulates population data issues is the Central Statistics Agency (BPS). Division of Population Data Population data sources are divided into three types, namely population census, population survey and population registration. Population Census A population census is a process where data on the population living in an area is collected, processed and disseminated. Usually, population census processing is carried out every 10 years. Purpose of Population Census The objectives of a population census include: 1. To determine the changes in population over time within a period. 2. To determine the number, distribution and density of the population in each region. 3. To know various information about population, such as birth rates, deaths, migration, and various factors that affect them. 4. As a source of data in planning and determining national development policies. Method of Population Census 1. Householder Method The householder method in this population census is implemented by filling in individually. Generally, the one who does this filling is represented by a head of household. In this digital era, the householder method has also begun to be disrupted by a digital system in the form of an online form that facilitates accessibility. 2. Canvases Method This canvasser method tends to be conventional and a bit traditional in terms of population census methods. Where census officers will fill in data from residents in an area. Later, the data will be curated and accumulated into one as accountable and factual census data. Based on Place of Residence As for the Status of Residence of the Population, the census can be divided into De Facto Census and De Jure Census. 1. De Facto Census This method of recording is carried out by Officers on everyone who is in the area at the time the census is held. This census method does not differentiate between permanent residents or temporary residents. 2. De Jure Census Population registration is carried out by officers only for residents who are officially registered and living as residents in the area at the time of the census, so that it can be distinguished between permanent natives and residents who are only temporarily single or who have not been registered as local residents. By using a de jure census, residents who have not been officially registered as residents in the area are not included in the count. By Type 1. Population census 2. Census of dwellings 3. Agricultural census Population Survey Population survey is the process of collecting data through only a few parts that are used as a reference for a group of residents. The difference between a population census and a population survey is that, in a population survey the data taken is only a sample. Population Registration Meanwhile, population registration is a government effort that works with families to find out about births, deaths, marriages and adoptions that occur in the neighborhood. In Indonesia itself, this method is still inaccurate because there are many problems that people do not want to report.
