LEARNING MECHANISMS BEHAVIORAL CONTROL IN  Action-Effect Relations in Learning  Flow Experience Behavioral Control  Athletes experience "flow" when actions run smoothly, leading to deep physical satisfaction.  Actions are in harmony with the environment, and their outcomes are predictable.  Actions align with the situational conditions, forming a rational system of cause and effect. Complex Learning Beyond Thorndike and Skinner  Joachim Hoffmann introduced the "Anticipatory Behavioral Control (ABC)" framework.  Learning depends on acquiring complex situation-action-effect (SAE) triples.  Strength of association between voluntary actions (Avolunt) and anticipated effects (Eant) determines behavior selection.    Observational Learning: Cognitive Learning  Ideomotor approaches explain human behavior based on intended goal states. Side Story: Anticipatory Behavioral Control and Flow Experience Social Observational Learning Basics  Observational learning involves acquiring associations by observing others' actions and their effects.  Learning occurs through representative experiences from observing others.  Social cognitive learning, coined by Albert Bandura (1977), focuses on learning from various models. Primary formation of action-effect associations and secondary contextualization are key learning processes. Learning enables the quick and reliable execution of actions in specific situations. and Imitation as an Innate Skill  Imitation in Social Cognitive Learning  Imitation is a fundamental learning principle and an innate skill.  People can spontaneously imitate observed behaviors.  Imitation ability extends to trying out observed actions from TV shows or other sources. Social Cognitive Learning and Social Consequences  Beyond Imitation: Considering Social Consequences  Observational learning considers social consequences of behavior.  People copy observed behaviors hoping for rewards or recognition.  Conversely, they suppress behaviors fearing punishment or rejection.
