Impacts This harms the local economies there in S America who heavily rely on anchovies. These harsh droughts cause many fires in Australia, meaning humans have to leave their homes. Heavy rain causes heavy flooding in parts of the US. and Peru. These typhoons and hurricanes can potentially be dangerous to surrounding habitats or boats. These water temperatures cause fishes to move around, some environments thrive and grow, while others crash. 6) Analysis: Please answer the questions below using complete sentences. 1) How are we impacted here in the Southwest United States by El Niño? The Southwest gets storms more often, especially more severe ones. Also above-average precipitation. 2) How are El Niño and La Niña different (besides the obvious boy/girl name)? El Nino creates unusually warm waters in the Eastern Pacific, while La nina makes the same area unusually colder. 3) How would you make sure that people are informed and ready for an El Niño event? Explain your steps. First, I would inform them of websites or weather channels that record where El Nino is, or when it will happen. Then, after understanding when it is occurring, I would tell them to research how El Nino affects their location, because it differs. If they live in Australia, for example, they would be facing droughts. They would have to prepare for droughts by buying the safety equipment, and having a plan for a place to move to just in case of anything happening.
