Indications -Ventricular Fibrillation -Pulsesless Ventricular Tachycardia CONSIDERATIONS Nursing Interventions (pre, intra, post) pre-Explain procedure, obtain consent, admin o2 , document procedure rhythm, have emergency equipment avaliable, intra-Admin sedative, ensure proper lead placement, montior clients leads to ensure QRS complex is upright and shockable, perform CPR, defibrillate immediatley for v fib post-Monitor VS, asses airway, document # of fibrillation attempts, ekg, provide client & family education and support. Outcomes/Evaluation -Client should have a restablished regular rhythm. -Client has no burns/skin irritation under electrodes Potential Complications -Electrical burns under electrodes -Failure of defibrillation -Embolism causing MI, CVA, & PE -Decreased cardiac outout -Heart Failure Client Education -Educate client and family on how to assess for pulse -Advise client to report palpitations or irregularities of heart rate Nursing Interventions -Asses burns & care for electrical burns -Offer emotional support to family -Provide anticoagulation therapy -Monitor for signs of decrease cardiac output -Provide medications to decrease workload and increase output -
