First 10 amendments Amendment 1st 2nd 3rd 4th 5th 6th 7th 8th 9th 10th What it protects freedom of Religion, Speech, Press, Assembly, Petition. guarantees the right to serve in a state militia and to bear arms. that soldiers may NOT be housed in anyone's home. protects us from unreasonable searches and seizures. no one can be put on trial without first being indicted, or formally charger by a grand jury. NO DOUBLE JEOPARDY. gives you the right to trial by jury. you have the right to a trial by jury in a CIVIL case - that's a case dealing with money. prohibits excessive bail or fines. Prohibits cruel and unusal punishment. this is similar to the Necessary and Proper Clause, because it states that we have many other rights, even though they’re not written down. powers not given to the national government are those powers of the states or the people. This amendment explains there are RESERVED powers.
