As a result, two TB-related conditions exist: Active infection (TB Dis) and Latent infection. TB disease is diagnosed by medical history, physical examination, chest x-ray, and other laboratory tests. ① Tests used to detect TB bacteria in the body: • Tuberculin skin test (TST). Definition of TB-patients at registration: New case: Pt. who has never had treatment for TB or... took Anti Tuberculosis drugs less than one month Defaulter: Pt. whose treatment interrupted for two consecutive months or more. Failure: Pt. who has been on treatment for more than five months OR sputum smear positive at five months or more. Relapse: Pt. previously treated for TB, then diagnosed positive culture and smear. The national TB Program (NTB) (NTB) recommends the following: (DOTS strategy) Uniform National chemotherapy policy. BCG Vaccine of all children at birth in addition to school children. Legislation prohibiting the sale of Anti TB drugs in the private sector to prevent abuse & resistance Mycobacterium. Provide Anti TB therapy free to all detected pt. Screening of all Foreign labor force entering the country for TB by Xray & 3 sputum smears AFB.
