Pathophys1010gy Usually results from an infectious source (viral, baetenali rickettsial, fungal, para site, metawal, protocoal, or spirochetal) can also be immine related -autormimine related Clinical whanifestations depend on the type of infection, the degree of myocardial damage, and the capality of the myocardium to recover. -may be a symptomatic -fatigue dyspnea -syncope -palpitations -occasional discomfort in chest lupper abdomen. `` ``-most common s/s flu-like assessment and dx findings •endomyocardial biopsy- can provide definitive dx but, •MRI used more often b/c of its noninvasive approach. Medical management bed rest to ↓ cardiac workload and myocardial damage and the complications of myocarditis -Young pts-limit activities/athletics x6months or until heart size and function have returned to normal. Nursing management pts w/ myocarditis are sensitive to digitalis. Nurses must closely monitor these pts for digitalis toxicity s/s: arrhythmia, anorexia, N/V, a, malaise-
