Short Answer: Skills in the Humanities On October 21, 1897, Thomas Edison had invented the first commercially viable light bulb that took more than 6,000 combinations of filament to finally find the proper material to use that would be inexpensive yet durable which had been carbonized bamboo. The light bulb posed a huge success compared to its predecessors due to lasting a lot longer and being cheaper to produce, making it more readily available to the masses. Having been the first practical incandescent lamp, the light bulb, creates an immersion in light when an electrical current passes through the metal filament wire, resulting in a high temperature that makes it glow. By January 1879, Eddison’s laboratory in Menlo Park, New Jersey, housed the first high-resistance incandescent electric light bulb. Eddison was not only experimenting on the inner workings of an electrical light source, but also inspired others to come up with creations of their own. The act of one improving upon work that has previously been accomplished is the sort of role entrepreneurs fill and with the invention of the light bulb, Eddison inspired the future growth of generations that followed. This cultural work belongs to the ongoing process of human beings reflecting on the ongoing ways we can evolve with technological advances in the field of light. Creating transmission waves through finding sources of light passages will allow us to now use lasers to our advantage. We had gone from housing a light source by getting the materials needed through dangerous acts of whale hunting to now using technology to propel us further in new ways to energize light sources. The act of inventing upon previous creations and perfecting it came to fruition when people realized how crazy it was for Eddison to perfect an idea by creating a more sustainable light source. Societal standards had been set differently due to now having light sources grant the allowance of staying up later in return being more productive with nighttime activities. It was normal to fall asleep earlier and have two different sleep cycles due to not having light sources in the middle of the night. Without the advancements in the light bulb, technology would be at a different standpoint in time and society would not be nearly as advanced as it is today.
