Preoperative Prep ● Evaluation ○ Diagnosis - cataract ○ Eye measurements ■ Axial length ● ultrasound +optical biometry ■ keratometry ● Corneal curvature needed ○ IOL power calculation needed ■ SRK/T ● Eyedrop administration ○ Tropicamide+phenylephrine ○ Anesthetic drop used for peribubal blocking Sterile field ● Clear out area ○ Antiseptics -povidon-iodine ● Sterile cover on face ○ Eye should be the one only exposed ● Dilation must be confirmed - lid spectrum ○ Anesthesia effectiveness is checked Incision creation ● Corneal incision (2.2-2.8mm) ○ Temporal limbus ○ Side port incision is also possible option as alternative ● Anterior chamber should be maintained through viscoelastic ○ HPMC ○ Sodium hyaluronate Capsulorhexis ● Cohesive viscoelastic - will maintain spaces ● Cystotome needle - initiates tear ● CCC ○ Continuous ○ Curvilinear ○ Capsulorhexis ● Tear must be centered for better IOL Hydrodissection+Hydrodelineation ● Balanced salt solution (BSS) is injected ○ Hydrodissection ■ Lens separated from cortex form capsule ○ Hydrodelineation ■ Nucleus separated from epinucleus ● Must be careful on nucleus mobility ● Pressure on nucleus will confirm rotation
