Blood study The deregulation of blood homeostasis, physiological or pathological, results in an attack on the integrity of the body, affecting the oxygenation of tissues, the defense of the body against infectious agents and the deregulation of the hemostasis. Clinical signs Dysregulation of blood homeostasis is suggested based on signs that can be collected during patient questioning and clinical examination. They can be physical, functional or general. Physical signs These are the signs that we see (e.g. pallor), that we feel (e.g. splenomegaly), that we notice (e.g. dullness). Functional signs These are the signs that the patient feels, their complaints (e.g. pain, headaches, dizziness). General signs These are the signs which accompany a condition on a general level: fever, sweats, weight loss... Several clinical signs and symptoms can be grouped around the same pathogenic process forming a syndrome (e.g. anemic, infectious, hemorrhagic, polyglobulie syndrome, hemolytic). Complete blood count The hemogram constitutes the expression of the result of the count of the cellular elements of the circulating blood (red blood cells, leukocytes and platelets) accompanied by parameters making it possible to characterize the erythrocyte population (erythrocyte constants). and the proportion of the different types of leukocytes (polynuclear [neutrophils, eosinophils and basophils), lymphocytes, monocytes and the possible detection of other cells abnormally encountered in the blood; the expression of this proportion being designated by the term leukocyte formula). Very often the blood count is referred to as CBC (Blood Count). However, in medical practice, it happens that only the count (without the formula) or part of the count (e.g. platelet count) is necessary. Due to the economic weight represented by the blood count, it is necessary to prescribe these procedures judiciously and to avoid using the term CBC when we want to talk about counts.
