Container is closed*: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 7 Key Compliance Steps Area is identified by a sign Container is closed* Only one container per waste stream Container is properly labeled Container is in secondary containment Container not stored with incompatible wastes Container is free of leaks and compatible with the waste being added When the HPLC machine is ON: a cap with a small hole (smallest possible) allows the machine to drain into the container. 4. Container is properly labeled: When the HPLC machine is OFF: a second cap with no hole is screwed on to the container to securly close it. (contact EHS for extra caps) - words ‘hazardous waste’ - chemical name(s) spelled out (no abbreviations) - box(es) checked to indicate hazard type - date when full 3. Only one container per waste stream 5. Container is in secondary containment 6. Container not stored with incompatible wastes 7. Container is free of leaks and compatible with the waste SCHEDULING DISPOSAL: When the container is full, please date the label and schedule a pickup via the EHS website.
