Song Analysis Ride-Twenty One Pilots The song I decided to pick apart and analyze is Ride from Twenty One Pilots; this song is about the stresses of life and how sometimes you need to stop overthinking things and sit back, relax and enjoy the little things and not worry as much, although that is hard to do you need to try and enjoy the ride of life. The way the song writers wrote this song makes it easier to find the meaning of the song by analyzing the lyrics, for example throughout the song he uses repetition of the verse "I've been thinking too much" he repeats this verse 12 times throughout the song, this may represents just how often he thinks too much about a certain issue in his life, to further support this there is no punctuation while he is saying that verse which might mean that he thinks/worries about these issues constantly. "I've been thinking too much" is not the only repetition heard in this song, there are 3 stanzas that repeat three times during the song, those stanzas are "Oh, oh, I'm falling, so I'm taking my time on my ride| Oh, I'm falling, so I'm taking my time on my ride| Taking my time on my ride". Unlike the last repetition in the song there is use of punctuation, example the commas, all through those stanzas there is use of commas which represents that this doesn't happen all the time and often times he stops and continues to worry, he doesn't always take time to enjoy life and stop stressing. This song uses very little figurative language, but there is some. Some of the figurative language was about the suns mind, not only is that verse alliteration it is also personification, here is the verse " Pieces of the peace in the sun's peace of mind" the alliteration is the repetition of the words that start with the letter p and the personification is "the sun's peace of mind" the first verse of this song is "I just want to stay in the sun where I find" then he stops this sentence and says "I know it's hard sometimes" then after that verse is the sun's piece of mind, if you take out !1 the "I know it's hard sometimes" you get the full and complete sentence which would be "I just want to stay in the sun where I find pieces of the peace in the sun's peace of mind." It's saying that the sun is calming and peaceful and he wants to find that he wants to be calm and peaceful but doesn't know how to find it. There is only one metaphor all throughout this song which is "Im the man" while I could say that it means he is the boss the very next verse is "But literally I don't know what to do" maybe it means that other people see him as the boss but he really doesn't know what to do with himself and is very insure. I think this poem is thoughtful because he put a lot of though in how he feels and ways to describe it. I believe the message the poet was trying to get across is that you should stop over thinking things and enjoy life because it isn't forever. This song has much a deeper meaning if you read the lyrics or really listen to the song versus just listening to the beat and music playing in the background.
