SAMPLE OUTLINE The following is an example of how I would complete the introduction, first object, and conclusion. When creating your speech outline, be creative and use your own words and thoughts. Don’t borrow mine. Introduction I. [What is the attention getting strategy that is used? Asking a question.] Where do you think I grew up if I told you I experienced 30 degrees below zero during the winter and 110 degrees during the summer? This is a place where I searched for dinosaur bones and celebrated the almighty buzzard at our annual fall festival. This is a place where you can still see “the deer and the antelope play”. Any guesses. I grew up in the Badlands of eastern Montana in a small rural town called Glendive. A. Hi, my name is Cheryl Dyer Vargas; you know me as Dr V. B. After college, I moved to Denver, Colorado where I caught the incurable disease called Bronco mania so don’t ask me about “them Cowboys!” Beautiful Colorado is my favorite place to live where you experience a milder version of all four season as compared to the brutal weather of eastern Montana. C. Next, I moved to Laredo, Texas, which is the most Hispanic city in the United States. I loved living in the city where the culture and traditions are so rich. D. And after my south Texas tour, I landed in Dallas, where I found my way to you and Brookhaven College. E.
