Lesson Plan Nursery Rhymes Pantomime Group Goals: ­Enhance cooperation between group members. ­ learn to identify a variety of nursery rhymes through pantomime ­ Problem solve ­ Empathy for other group members ­ Non­verbal communication Drama Goals: ­ ­cooperation between group members ­ Creativity ­ Use of space ­ Pantomime Methods: Good Morning Class!!! Today we will be pantomiming nursery rhymes. Can someone tell me what pantomime is? Can anyone name a nursery rhyme? Do any of you have a favorite nursery rhyme? I am now going to read a famous nursery rhyme called Jack Be Nimble Jack be nimble, Jack be quick, Jack jump over The candlestick Now I am going to show you how to pantomime Jack Be Nimble. Before we get into groups I will tell you what I want you as a group to do. As a group you will pick a nursery rhyme from my stack. Once everyone in the group reads it to themselves, I want everyone in the group to decide how you as a group is going to pantomime it. Once everyone in the group is ready I want you to sit there quietly looking at me. When I call your group I want you to go up to the stage and perform your pantomime. While one group is up there I want the other groups to try to decide what nursery rhyme they are performing. After every group has went I want everyone to go back to their sits quietly. Anticipated Realization of Goals: The students in the class should be able to meet all of my roles set for them. I have seen in past lessons that the students can pantomime, work together, problem solve, and use their use of space correctly. When playing the activity each group should be able to develop a pantomime that goes along with the nursery rhyme. Also the other groups not performing should be able to identify the nursery rhyme through the other groups pantomime. Closing the Session: I feel that this lesson should be easy for our class. We have been doing pantomime for almost a month. This lesson would work really well for younger students in elementary school.
