For my best friend, my tone would not be that formal. I would give still give a good amount of detail because I wouldn't expect them to know too much on the topic so I would love to make it detailed and clear. My best friend would look for is basic information. 2. People reading my editorial would be unknown so my tone would be formal because I am not familiar with the audience. I would give minimal but impactful details because I would only have limited space to get my point across. My audience would be looking for basic, simple information. 3. For my professor, I would keep a formal tone as well, because we have a professional relationship and it's expected of me to be formal. I should provide a great level of detail and make my argument strong with good support. I think my professor would look for a detailed argument because they would be grading me to academic standards. Basic information wouldn't pass with a professor. 4. As for the audience at a conference, I would keep my tone formal yet comfortable. It's important to be formal because of the professional setting, though little bits of informality can build a positive connection with the audience. I would give a lot of detail in this scenario too because the people may not know too much about the topic. My audience would be looking for basic information that support a strong argument to fulfill them. What audience would be most interested in reading about the women's movement? How would you tailor your presentation to that audience? What message would be most appropriate for this audience? The audience that would be most interested in reading about the women's movement is the youth, primarily women in the age range of 18-35. This is because I believe they are the ones looking for change in their future and their kids future, they are most likely to join these movements. I would tailor my presentation to this audience by keeping a formal tone, and then give them basic information with a decent amount of details to support it. The most appropriate message for this audience would be to show them what was, and what should be. As in, what women have experienced, and what we deserve as human beings. Module 4 Short Responses – Question 3 Let's say the intended audience for your historical analysis essay about the legal battle for women's suffrage is a group of civil rights lawyers. How would you explain the legal background of the Constitution and the Nineteenth Amendment? How would this approach compare and contrast to an audience of high school students? To explain the legal background of the Constitution and the NIneteenth Amendment to civil rights lawyers, I would use a formal tone and give very detailed information and be sure to include legal aspects of the argument. I would bring up different legal cases as examples to get my message across. As for high school students, the tone would still be formal but there would be no use of legal jargon, I would use simple words and give simple information with some key details in support. Since they are students, this would be the best way to convey my message to them. President Kennedy's decision to support the Equal Rights Amendment was absolutely a necessary cause for the amendments passage because of his high title, role, power, and influence. The social tumult of the 1960's was a necessary cause of the women's liberation movement because it highlighted how much the women demanded their liberation. Tailor this thesis statement into a message suitable for an audience of high school history students. Simon de Beauvoir's ideas and knowledge was the brains behind the women's liberation movement. This is because they see it is a shameful or sinful thing to be sexually liberated, and have a choice over their body. It was an unfamiliar and uncomfortable idea for them.
