TESTING INCISION WOUND HEALING Practical Objectives Students can get to know,study andhealing of incision wounds in test animals practice the effect of drugs on Basic theory Wounds are a disruption of the normal condition of the skin. Wounds are damage to the continuity of the skin, mucous membranes and bones or other body organs. When a wound occurs, several effects will appear, namely the loss of all or some organ functions, sympathetic stress response, bleeding, blood clotting, and bacterial contamination and cell death. Mechanism of injury: 1. Incision wound (incised wounds), occurs because it is sliced by sharp instrument. 2. Bruised wounds (contusion wound), occurs as a result of impact by a pressure and is characterized by soft tissue injury, bleeding and swelling. 3. Wounds blisters (abraded wound), occurs due to skin rubbing against other objects usually with non-sharp objects. 4. Stab wounds (punctured wound), occurs due to the presence of objects, such asbullet or knife that enters the skin with a small diameter. 5. Scratches (laceratedwound), occurs due to sharp objects such as glass or wire. 6. Penetrating wounds (penetrating wounds), namely wounds that penetrate body organs. 7. Burns (combustio). As forThe wound healing process generally goes through 4 phases, namely phase inflammation, destructive phase, proliferation phase and maturation and formation phase. Material:Mice (Mus musculusL.) white male aged 4-8 weeks, comparison material, Povidone Iodine 1%, Gentamicin ointment, Betason N, and distilled water. Test Animals:Mice: 16-20 mice Work procedures 1. Test animal anesthesia process: a. Drop 5-10 drops of chloroform with cotton wool and put it in a jar b. Observe until the mice appear to be aslee c. Shave with scissors, then shave with a knife d. Sterilize/disinfect with an alcohol swab e. Incision 2-3 cm deep, with a wound length of 3 cm 2. Group Categorizer: Group 1 was administered Gentamicin ointment group 2 was administered Betason-N Group 3 was administered Povidone Iodine 1% Group 4 administered Aquadest 3. Provision of preparations: a. After the incision, then each group was given treatment according to respective groups (marked with markers) b. Provide treatment and control every day (morning) once a day for 7 day. c. Next, the wounds on the test animals that had been treated were bandaged with sterile gauze and hansaplast. The bandage must be removed every 24 hours. Make observations and recording whether there are signs of infection. Rubor/redness is said to be the case swelling of the skin, warm, looks painful, there is pressure or pus, heals if the wound is dry and completely closed. d. Observations were made every day by measuring the length of the remaining wound using ruler on the length of the remaining wound from the first day to the 14th day. e. The resulting observation time is a measurement of the length of the wound after the wound has been treated that is, day one is not day zero.
