Infection Prevention and Control • • • • • • • The administrative and clerical staff are the most complaint to hand washing, followed by allied health care worker. Invasive technician staff are the least compliance to hand washing. Contributors to MRSA: health workers, clerical staff, bed linen, patients, medical students. To control MROs: patient isolation/chortling, wearing gloves and gowns, physical barriers and hand hygiene. Previous exposure to ceftriaxone, haemodialysis, diabetes mellitus and ICU admission all increase the risk of harbouring MRSA and Previous exposure to vancomycin and MRSA also increases the risks of MRSA. ESBL enzymes stand for extended spectrum beta lactamases which are the enzymes that are responsible for the resistance to most beta lactam antibodies. - The genes that code for this enzyme are found in the plasmid. Precautions for using needles: wearing protective eye wear, avoiding blind techniques, and disposing sharps immediately. • Strategies for preventing transmission of MROs.
