Ecological Systems Theory (Brofenbrenner). • Microsystem you, primary relationships (parents or Caregivers, siblings, pets, close friends during adolescents, intimate parmers) mesosystem/mezzosystern: other relationships such as your neighbors, school, sport teams, workplace, human service organizations you may access.... exosystem: Systems that you don't directly participate in but still influence you. Systems of government, parent's workplace, relationships between other systems, relationships between your culture and other systems, etc. macrosystem: your culture, socioeconomic Stoutus, race, ethnicity, religion or spiritual orientation, Spoken language or languages Chronosystem: the transitions that occur during your lifespan. birth, death, divorce marriage, moving out, traumatic events... not just the event, but where are recent or post you in time in relation to that event? Strengths-Based Approaches. • focus on a person's Strengths or deficits and resources instead of the problem. •Solution focused brief therapy, positive psychology • Use skillfully or not at all Wrap Up • the combination of these theories creates the unique approach of human Services, with the goal of creating a broader understanding of a person, depathologizing common issues, empowering clients and increasing self-sufficiency
