I argue that the movie and‬ ‭TV ratings systems are generally effective and useful, but they have limitations that must be‬ ‭addressed to better serve the public. This essay explores the benefits and drawbacks of these‬ ‭systems, supported by specific reasons and examples.‬ ‭Firstly, movie and TV ratings systems provide a valuable tool for parents to make‬ ‭informed decisions about what their children watch. Ratings such as G, PG, PG-13, R, and‬ ‭NC-17 for movies, and TV-Y, TV-Y7, TV-G, TV-PG, TV-14, and TV-MA for television‬ ‭programs, offer a quick reference for the content's suitability.
