Solar Energy In one hour, the sun pours as much energy onto the earth as we use un a whole year. If it were possible to harness this colosal quantum of energy, humanity would need no other source of energy. Today we have developed several methods of collecting this energy for heating water and generating electriaty. Solar heating for homes is modern housing that uses energy dependant. A passive solar nome or building is designed to collect the sun's heat through large, south foang glass windows. In solar heared buildings, sunspaces are bustan the south side of the structure which act as large heat absorbers. The floors of sunspoces are usually made of tiles or bricks that absorb heat throughout the day, then release heat at night when Its cold. In energy efficient architecture the sun, water and wind are used to heat a building when the weather is cold and to cool it in summer. This is based on design and building material. Thick walls of stone or mod were used in traditional architecture as an insulator. small doors and windows kept direct sunlight and heat out. Deeply ser glass windows in colonial homes, on which direct sunlight could not reach, permitted the glass from creating a green nouse effect. Veran dals also served a similar purpore.
