FEMORAL CANAL DEFINATION It is the most medial compartment of the femoral sheath. SHAPE It is conical vertical canal 11/2 em. long having: :- (1)APEX) Directed downwards (blending with the adventitia of femaral vein) (2) BASE Called Femoral Ring:- :- Directed upwards, opening into the a condensation of extraperitoneal farty tissue cavity and is normally closed by called the femoral Septum. BOUNDARIES OF FEMORAL RING Human Anatomy For Exam ANTERIORLY : Inguinal ligarrent. POSTERIORLY : Pectireal ligarent (Along pectineal line) Pectineus muscle & Superior ramus of pubic bone. FEMORAL CANAL: FUNCTION (i) Acts as increased a dead space alongside the femoral vein allowing its distension during venous return from the lower limb. (ii) Roube for passage of lymphatics from deep inguinal lymph nodes to Abdominal lymph nodes.
