FEMORAL SHEATHDEFINATIONIti is a fascial streath surrounding the upper 4 cm.of femoral vessels in the femoral triangle.SHADE is SIZEIt is furnel shaped having ant & past walls, base, apexmedial and lateral margins.BASE :- Directed upwards (Continuous with the abdominal cavitybehind the inguinal ligarment].APEX: - Directed downwards and blends with the adventitia offemoral vessels.LATERAL MARGIN:- Oblique and about 4 cm. long.MEDIAL MARGIN:- Vertical and about 11/2 cm.RAYFORMATION OF FEMORAL SHEATHANTERIOR WALL :- It is a downward prolongation of fascia transversalislining the anterior abdominal wall.POSTERIOR WALLIt is a downward prolongation of fasia iliacaof the posterior abdominal wall.COMPARTMENTS OF FEMORAL SHEATHHuman AnatomyFor Exam2 antero-posterior septor divide the sheath into 3 compartments: -(1) LATERAL COMPARTMENT :- Containing femoral artery and femoralbranch of genitofemoral N.(2) INTERMEDIATE COMPARTMENT:- Containg vein.(3) MEDIAL COMPARTMENT:- Called femoral Canal-Containg fat and one lymph node.
