‭Medications Of psycho disorders‬ ‭Depending on the clinical picture, antidepressants can be combined with: Anxiolytics: at the start of‬ ‭treatment (anxiety, insomnia, lifting of inhibition) Sedative neuroleptics: Chlorpromazine‬ ‭(Largactil*), Levomepromazine (Nozinan*), in certain forms of melancholy (anxious and‬ ‭delusional).‬ ‭Thymoregulators‬‭: bipolar depressions and resistant depressions‬ ‭Other therapeutic means‬ ‭Electroconvulsive therapy‬‭(ECT)‬‭: Prescribed either‬‭as second-line treatment, after failure of‬ ‭antidepressant treatment, or as first-line treatment in the event of:‬ ‭●‬ ‭Delusional melancholy or with a marked motor component: significant slowing down or‬ ‭agitation (high suicidal risk).‬ ‭●‬ ‭Depression in the elderly (resistance to antidepressants)‬ ‭‬ ● ‭Depression in pregnant women faced with the teratogenic risk of medications‬ ‭Phototherapy‬‭: It consists of a treatment of exposure to a source of white light, presented at a short distance‬ ‭and during fixed hours of the day. It is indicated in seasonal depressions.‬ ‭Psychotherapies‬ ‭●‬ ‭Supportive‬ ‭(unstructured):‬ ‭de-dramatize‬ ‭the‬ ‭situation,‬ ‭make‬ ‭the‬ ‭patient‬ ‭understand‬ ‭their‬ ‭disorder and improve their adherence to treatment.‬ ‭●‬ ‭Interpersonal‬ ‭psychotherapy:‬ ‭consists‬ ‭of‬ ‭getting‬ ‭the‬ ‭patient‬ ‭to‬ ‭find‬ ‭ways‬ ‭to‬ ‭resolve‬ ‭their‬ ‭relational difficulties, and to better understand their environment and to master it.‬ ‭●‬ ‭Psychoanalytic:‬‭depression‬‭occurring‬‭in‬‭a‬‭pathological‬‭personality‬‭of‬‭the‬‭hysterical,‬‭phobic‬‭or‬ ‭obsessive type.‬ ‭●‬ ‭Cognitive: becoming aware of cognitive distortions and correcting them.‬ ‭●‬ ‭Behavioral:‬ ‭facilitate‬ ‭the‬ ‭resumption‬ ‭of‬ ‭normal‬ ‭motor‬ ‭and‬ ‭intellectual‬ ‭activity‬ ‭when‬ ‭it‬ ‭is‬ ‭introduced at the right time.‬ ‭Therapeutic modalities‬ ‭a-‬ ‭Curative treatment of major depressive episode‬ ‭Drug treatment‬‭relies on antidepressants‬ ‭Second-generation‬ ‭antidepressants‬ ‭(SSRIs‬ ‭and‬ ‭SNRIs)‬ ‭are‬ ‭preferred‬ ‭as‬ ‭first-line‬ ‭treatment‬ ‭due‬ ‭to‬ ‭their‬ ‭absence‬ ‭of‬ ‭side‬ ‭effects‬ ‭and‬ ‭their‬ ‭lower‬ ‭toxicity‬ ‭in‬ ‭the‬ ‭event‬ ‭of‬ ‭massive‬ ‭ingestion.‬ ‭They‬ ‭are‬ ‭prescribed‬ ‭at‬ ‭the‬ ‭rate‬ ‭of‬ ‭one‬ ‭to‬ ‭two‬ ‭tablets‬ ‭per‬ ‭day.‬ ‭Tricyclics‬ ‭can‬ ‭also‬ ‭be‬ ‭prescribed‬ ‭in‬ ‭gradually‬ ‭increasing‬ ‭doses‬ ‭up‬ ‭to‬ ‭75‬ ‭to‬ ‭150‬ ‭mg‬ ‭per‬ ‭day.‬ ‭They‬ ‭are‬ ‭particularly‬ ‭useful,‬ ‭as‬ ‭well‬ ‭as‬ ‭SNRIs,‬ ‭in‬ ‭melancholic depressions.‬ ‭An‬ ‭anxiolytic‬ ‭or‬ ‭a‬‭sedative‬‭neuroleptic‬‭is‬‭often‬‭combined‬‭at‬‭the‬‭start‬‭of‬‭treatment‬‭to‬‭reduce‬‭anxiety‬ ‭(in‬ ‭anxious‬ ‭forms),‬ ‭correct‬ ‭insomnia‬ ‭and‬ ‭prevent‬ ‭the‬ ‭risk‬ ‭of‬ ‭committing‬ ‭a‬ ‭suicidal‬ ‭act‬ ‭by‬ ‭lifting‬ ‭inhibition (which occurs around the 10th day of treatment).‬ ‭Psychotherapies‬‭constitute‬‭the‬‭treatment‬‭of‬‭choice,‬‭in‬‭depression‬‭without‬‭melancholic‬‭characteristics,‬ ‭in‬ ‭combination‬ ‭with‬ ‭antidepressants.‬ ‭This‬ ‭is‬ ‭supportive‬ ‭psychotherapy‬ ‭associated‬ ‭or‬‭not‬‭with‬‭more‬ ‭structured techniques.‬ ‭Duration of treatment: 06 to 09 months after remission‬
