Cerebral Palsyis 1. Definition : Cerebral Palsyis a neurological condition that occurs permanently but does not affect neurodevelopmental damage because it is nonprogressive in lesions in one or many locations in the immature brain. Cerebral Palsyis a non-progressive disorder of posture and movement control caused by damage or paralysis of the central nervous system.Cerebral Palsyis a disorder of movement and posture that is not progressive due to damage or interference with motor cells in the central nervous system that are growing or have not yet completed their growth.Cerebral Palsyis a non-progressive brain disorder. This disorder can be caused by lesions or developmental disorders in the brain. One of the growth and development disorders in children is Cerebral Palsy.Cerebral Palsyis a movement and posture disorder or non -progressive motor disorder due to brain damage in children, causing limited movement.Cerebral Palsycause interferenceon sensation, perception, cognition, communication and habits. Cerebral Palsyis a disorder related to “motor” development due to non-progressive lesions of the developing brain. It is often accompanied by impaired sensation, cognition and straining. Current known risk factors include multiple pregnancies, gender, infection, prematurity and low birth weight as well as genetic determinants. 2. Cause Several causes of CP can occur generally during the womb (prenatal), during the birth process (perinatal) and after birth (postnatal). a. Period in the womb (Prenatal) At this stage, infection may occur during pregnancy which can result in abnormalities in fetal growth such as cytomegalic inclusion disease, rubella and toxoplasma infections. Other things that can cause CP are poisoning due to X-ray radiation, as well as anoxia during pregnancy, for example anemia, and damage to the placenta. b. During the birth process (Perinatal) There are several risk factors that can cause CP during the birth process, such as: 1) Brain injury This is an injury that occurs to the baby's head and can result in: 2) Anoxia/hypoxia Anoxia can occur during an abnormal birth process where the baby does not get oxygenoccurs in prolonged labor, labor with caesarean section, placental infection, birth with cephalopelvic disproportion and placenta previa 3) Brain hemorrhage Trauma at the time of birth can cause spasticity due to compression of the cerebral cortex, causing brain hemorrhage.
