EXPLORING STRESS FROM THEORETICAL PERSPECTIVES Models Focused on Reactions Central to models focusing reactions are the body's responses faced with various scenarios. Tracing back their origin, these stem primarily from Claude Bernard’s notion of “dynamic equilibrium.” According to this French physiologist, any disruption causing instability should be regarded negatively in terms of human physiology. Progressing this theorem was Walter Cannon introducing "homeostasis," a term used for capturing the collective efforts that work towards upholding physiological balance or status quo within our bodies. Interestingly, he included emotional stressors as disruptives enough triggering fight-or-flight reactions. In contemporary practice and research around reaction-focused approaches toward understanding stress relies heavily on further adaptations made over time building upon original findings by both Cannon and Selye. Consequently challenging traditional postulations surrounding “homeostasis” were McEwen & Stellar who argued against its premise suggesting a naturally consistent condition maintains everyday physical functions— introduced instead concept they coined as -"allostasis." This would mean humans're competent at adapting ongoing changes while sustaining wellness under optimal conditions—which unfortunately when disrupted tends too invoke what we understand now is–stressful experiences.This pressure precipitates due sustained impacts caused internally/externally tilting allostasic balances awry; if exposure remains uncurbed beyond recoverable limits results potentiate overloads releasing allostatic bearings into alarming peaks displaying chronic manifestations predictably linked with prolong stresses. Shifting Attention Toward Stimulus-Centric Models Recoil impulses triggered off external stimuli assume critical stances viewing such interference characteristically attributing stressful evolution creating unnecessary pressures charged intensely sufficient exponentially escalating already compromised allostatic parameters. The spectrum shaping formative triggers just doesn't stop short exposing one singularly definite threat ,yet captures pluralistic range inclusive varying encounters spanning warfare tensions, sense isolation socially, captivity circumstances, evolving natural disasters, acts of terrorism besides familiar life altering challenges inherent navigating fundamentals like-articulating family/partnership discourses, economic dealings, variances quality dwelling settings, lifestyle choices along complexities revolving recreational engagements; each undeniably hold potential enough induce heightened allostatic loads.
