ROSHAAN AMEER DISCUSSION PUBLIC SPEAKING "Posture, facial expression, gestures, eye contact - all affect the way listeners respond to a speaker." I found this sentence important because delivering a good speech goes further than just saying the right words. In the past when I've watched people deliver speeches their body language helps me see them as more or less credible. If they look like they know what they're doing then I'm more likely to believe what they are saying. Expressions and gestures are also important when capturing the interest of the audience. I've found that when the speaker's gestures and expressions show how interested they are in a topic, I'm more likely to show interest in the topic, even if it's something I normally wouldn't be intrigued by. I will use this especially when I am speaking outside of this class. Whether I'm giving a speech or not, I will think about whether my body language supports the words that I am saying. When I'm talking about something important to me I want people to see me as credible and to take interest in the topic, so I'll use body language to help deliver my intended message.
