Meroblastic Cleavage Telolecithal Egg: Yolk: Dense, present throughout the cytoplasm. Cleavage Types: Radial Cleavage: Seen in cephalopod molluscs, confined to the animal side (AP). Discoidal Cleavage: Seen in fish, reptiles, and birds (aves). It creates a disc-like cytoplasm at the AP. Centrolecithal Egg: Superficial Cleavage: Seen in insects. The peripheral narrow strip of cytoplasm becomes cells. Types of Cleavage Bilateral Cleavage: Tunicates (sponge-like): When a zygote divides into 2 blastomeres, they divide by their own axis and form mirror images, resulting in equal halves. Rotational Cleavage: Mammals and Nematodes (C. elegans, Ascaris): Arrangement of spindle fibers is in an oblique fashion. Mesolecithal Egg: Yolk: Moderate amount, deposited through the vegetal pole. Cleavage Type: Displaced Radial Cleavage: Seen in amphibians. The cleavage is displaced towards the animal pole (AP) and involves a combination of meridional and equatorial cleavages.
