The site that I went to “worship” at was the church of Scientology. In Scientology, they have one word that deal with the mind and one with the body. There is a book called “Dianetics”, which deals with the mind. And the word “Scientology” deals with the soul.
The outside of the church was very plain, but it was a tall building. The church, from the inside was very beautiful. There were two staircases leading up to the upper floor. On the lower floor, there was a “library” like room, filled with books about Scientology, and on one of the tables sat the EMeter, which measures how spiritual you are. On the upper floor, there was the so-called-“worship” room, where the service had been held. The people who had attended the service were about 30 plus years old, and the people there were very kind and polite to me, Austin and Ashlyn.

The “worship” service was very short. There were about 5-6 people at the service, and the sermon was based on an essay that was written by L. Ron Hubbard. I believe hat the woman who had lead the service read from the traditional service book. They have many books they use for “worship”. Before the service started, I got a chance to take a look around the building, and watch an informational video on basic Scientology beliefs, and some information on L. Ron Hubbard. The videos touched base on what L. Ron Hubbard did, who he was, what Scientology teacher, and various other points as well. While we were there, we had the chance to ask a member of the church a couple of questions, like, “What are the major beliefs in Scientology”, and “What are the different stages in Scientology”, and “How does the EMeter test work, and what does it do”, and “What is Scientology”.
Scientology is the set of beliefs created by L. Ron Hubbard, who is the founder of Scientology. Hubbard had written a book about the mind and the body, called “Dianetics” in 1950. The major belief that Scientologist or Thetans believe are that we are spiritual beings trapped inside of a human body. They believe that by going through many teachings, they can free themselves from their human form and become one with god. These undergoing of many teachings, are called auditing by the church. In Scientology, there are 8 main OT levels that one can become, and then after the eighth level, you go beyond the operating thetan. In each level, you become closer to becoming one with god. My impressions on the Scientology service is that I thought that it was very interesting. Their beliefs also intrigue me. I found their many levels of spirituality very intriguing. You start out at the bottom level, OT I, then progress up to OT XIII, then you can also go beyond that to Clear. To progress up each level, you have to spend time participating in auditing, and training each week, it also depends on how fast it is accomplished, and there is usually a lot of money spend on this. So, from my point of view as a Christian, one, it is pointless to try to progress up different levels be like god, because you cannot, and two, ridiculous amounts of money are spent progressing from one level to the next.
So, I went to worship a the Church of Scientology in St. Louis, and it was a very neat, interesting, and valuable experience for me. Their beliefs are one of the very things that had intrigued me into going, so I am glad that I did so. One thing that I would do different next time is spread the gospel to them in a way they can understand it and come to the Christina faith.
