Introduction

Money is an important object for everybody today because it is used in all things that we can see today. We go by our daily lives earning and spending money in order for us to live. All of us use money to buy things that we need like home, food, water, clothes, and other important necessities. Also, we buy things that we want that is not really important compared to the things that we need, that things that we want only gives us a temporary joy or accomplishment that makes you feel better for yourself because you are able to buy the things that you want. Other than the good things that we use our money on, we also sometimes use our money to cause others misfortune, hardship, harm, sorrow, and many others that would affect them negatively. Having lots of money doesn’t really make us evil, because money is used as an instrument to cause evil to others. With that said, money is not the root of all evil because the thing that is truly making us evil is our love for money and greed.

Many people today are working in order for them to earn money for their daily necessities, for their family, for their dreams, and for the things they want. In normal circumstances, people are working eight hours a day in offices, in a fast-food restaurant, and other working establishments just to earn their deserved salary. But not all of them are contempt with what they earn in those eight hours of hard work, so they start to do over-time works, lots of part-time jobs, and other necessary work just to earn a little more money to put food on the table. As Jacquelyn (2009) said, working overtime decreases the time that you spend with your family and having no time for them means you’ll be less close to each other.

Having lots of money isn’t really a bad thing; it depends on how you use it, either good or bad. Jacquelyn (2009) stated that for a good use of money, you can use it to buy your desired lifestyle for you and your family. You can use it to build a house that you’ve dreamt of, you can use it to travel, and many other great things that would make your life worth living.

In some cases, people who have money can make other people do things for them as money can be used as a tool of control for others said by Jesse Joodt (2016). The most vulnerable people that could be controlled easily by money are those that are in poverty or in a dire state that will do anything just to “earn” some money. They would do even evil things without thinking or knowing the consequences of what they can do.

Also according to Jesse Joodt (2016), a beneficial aspect of having money is having the sense of freedom. Why? Because having money means that you are able to buy whatever things you want and need, or you can even use it to escape all your problems by going to a vacation on a countryside villa, a private beach, or wherever you want as long as you can afford it. The only limit of what you can do and where you can go is how much money you have.

Being rich can give you access to locations that no ordinary people can go to, and in all the greatest places you can go with your money are the vacation spots that gives you refreshing and relaxing experience. Even if you can go wherever you want to go to escape all the problems that you have, when the time for you to return comes, you will still be faced with your original problems. You see, money can only give you a distraction from your real life problems (The Investor, 2010) that would make you unable to solve it, no kidding, you won’t even be able to face it. So how can you solve your problems by running away from it?

Even with all your money, you are still a human being. A human who gets tired and sick no matter what you do. Money can be of help to you when it comes to your health because you can buy healthy and nutritious foods that would prevent sickness be falling on you. Even with all your preventive measures and health lifestyle, you can still become sick. But no worries, because based on the article of The Investor (2010) with all the money that you have, you would be able afford a great healthcare not just for you, but even for the whole family.

Relationships can be very confusing and hard when you have lots of money and that everybody knows it. Why? Because some opportunistic people will get all close with you and make you think that they are your friends. But in reality, they are just there for your money. You could say that you’ve made friends just because you gave them money, items, or even treating them. But did you think that they think you are someone that is important to them in friendship? No, because you cannot gain friendship with money (The Investor, 2010). Because true friendship is built over a solid foundation of trust to each other that is built over time and not with money.

Rather than just letting your money collect dust, you should give some of it to people who needs help. You can either give it to them directly or by charity. Giving help to a person directly is useful if that person only needs a onetime help. For people who needs a long term help, you should just give it to charity as they organize who and how to help other people in both short or long term help. Rupinder Bajwa (2018) said that knowing that you are able to help others gives you a positive feeling and fulfillment in life.

Today, everything around us involves money, be it manufactured or natural. It is up to us on how we use it for our daily lives and we need to look at our surroundings and see what we really need to do. Being rich or poor, you can do well if you just use it wisely and for a great purpose. All in all, money is an object, or a tool that we need to live and survive but it is one of the most manipulative thing that can control us. Money can be used for good and evil, it just depends on how and what is the purpose of its use. That said, money isn’t really the root of all evil, it is our greed and the love for money.
