Documents 1 and 2 can both relate to the colonial labor systems that happened in the 1600s through 1700s by both describing the way people were treated. In the first document it talks about how people in the ship had different kinds of sea sicknesses, and they were also fed poorly from given expired food to drinking dirty water that made their condition worse. The people in the best condition were the once who mainly got bought once they arrived, or when the buyers went to see them. The people who didn’t get chosen didn’t live long and died days later since they had poor health. In the second document an ex-slave shares his story about what he went through while being a slave. He talks about how badly they were treated and how they sometimes didn’t have anything to eat because the whites wouldn’t let them have anything. An example of this was when he brought up the fact that they went fishing and they couldn’t take all the fish with them, so instead of the whites letting them eat a fish they would just throw them back to the water. As you can clearly see these two documents are similar to each other because they both talk about how horrible they were treated. They both didn’t have good enough food, bought by different people, and had to obey their owners in order to stay alive.
Document 3 and the video both talk about how Native Americans and European Colonists didn’t get along well. Trade was a big part of this because they did trade different materials, but at a certain point they had a disagreement and this made them get into a bigger argument. That led to one thing to an other. They would always have conflicts about land, and they normally always saw each other as a thread to each other after that. Commercial hunting affected many of the Indian’s religious believes.

These three documents plus the video are relatable to the history of expansion because they all take place around the same era where the Louisiana purchase was done. There was also a lot of moving going on people immigrated from place to place either because there were more supplies or the weather. Weather played an important part of this because with the type of weather they had they got to plant crops and other goods, so they definitely needed a specific weather for different types of goods. Economically they needed to trade with different colonies to make money and have better resources. This is how their system worked; they would have provide different good to different colonies to make a fair trade for each other, but this is what caused conflict with the Native and European.
Part 2
The Columbian Exchange was an operation that helped people, diseases, animals, crops, good and other things travel from the Atlantic and back. Goods from the new world such as cassava, corn, manioc, potatoes, and so on made the population of Africa increase. This is because more people got to eat the food brought from the new world, and made people not starve as much because there was more quantity of it. Many Native Americans died from diseases while being force to travel to be enslave by people. Therefore diseases also played a big part of the Columbian Exchange. Basically diseases from the old world were transfer to the new world by people and animals because diseases are easier to carry from one another and can even make the diseases stronger. Not only that but apparently diseases were also spread by the trade network they had. Some of the diseases they carry were: whooping coughs, chicken pox, malaria, and smallpox. The sad part is the Americans didn’t really have a strong immune system so almost everyone who lived there died because of all the diseases that were passed around. Goods like coffee, sugar, and grapes were some of the most expensive items in Spain because they wanted to make this cash crops. This is because those items were rich and used for various different things. Some of the animals that were brought to the new world made it hard to keep crops since they would set some of the animals freely, and the animals would go and eat the things that they would grow. Animals would also multiply fast because of how good they got fed. Even though this meant that they had more goods to eat or to cut for materials they need; they were just way to many animals. Which also made it a problem at some point while being in the new world. I would say that the Europeans benefited the most the reason for this is because they had a better expense at trading, and knowing how to do things more than Africans, and Asians.
Part 3
Colonial fur trade was very important in tis era because animals fur provided a lot of different needs for people. One of the most useful animals were the Beavers. These animals provided different needs. Some of the things they got to do with the beaver were pots, hats, axes, kettles, ice chisels, hatchets, knives, bread, and swords. As you can see these are all very important materials that help them survive. Each side got something out of this. The English would trade with the Native and they would give them about 20 knives for 1 part of beaver skin. The Natives wouldn’t really agree with this but a trade is a trade. They would also trade fur for mirrors, guns, bullets and etc. The Natives had to have many good skill to know how to hunt animals. The Natives also had to know their way around to know what places were good for hunting. This meant that they would have to go out an explore different places to see what animals lived in what type of climate, and they had to also memorize their way back home, so they wouldn’t get lost. Natives would also use the fur trade for metal. They had used fur or old fur that would help them out with the new things Europeans had. Other animals that they also used in the fur trade to make either coats or other accessories were: foxes, coyotes, wolves. Since the Europeans wanted to defeat the indigenous with the fur trade they at some point they did take over the fur trade. This cause a big fall for the Natives. This trade made different types of relationships with everyone. They knew what they needed to trade in order to get fur, and they also had to negotiate with one another to make this trade possible, but with this it also meant that not everyone was going to agree with each other. As of matter of fact this is why there was some conflicts with the fur trade.
