To become a real estate agent, broker, or any other type of placement schooling isn't necessary besides a high school diploma. You have to complete state-approved educational programs. Then you have to join a real estate program. It is best to go to college to major in business to earn a bachelor's degree. The most common majors for real estate are business and social sciences. Once completed you need to get a license, to get a license the state requires you to take pre-licensing training. The number of hours depends on which state you live in. In California, a total of 135 hours of pre-licensing training is required. Once you have earned your license there are some future job opportunities like, Managing broker, commercial real estate, real estate investor, property manager, and commercial appraiser. Meet your state's minimum age and education required, take real estate courses, pass the state exam, work under a licensed broker, study your market, have savings on hand in the first year on the job, keep learning, and adapt to changes in your market.

The average salary range for a real estate broker would approximately be $75,336 - $104,712 annually. The average male salary is $96,071 and for females is $59,575 (Real Estate Broker & Sales Agents, 1). Annual wage also depends on where you live for example in California the highest-paying cities are Davis, Woodland, and West Sacramento. But as in the United States, Georgia, New Jersey, and New York have the highest average wage out of all other states (2).

Business jobs usually have the same dressing style. Dress slacks, a button-up shirt, jacket, tie, and dress shoes. NO WRINKLES! Most real estate agents and brokers are self-employed. Many real estate agents and brokers work from home but some work in offices.

As my third career job, I chose property management, a property manager is someone who directs, controls, or operates real estate property on behalf of the owner. They make sure the property is rented, looks nice, operates smoothly, looks nice, and preserves its resale value. Seek tenants, collect monthly rent payments, Maintain the property, and upkeep the grounds.

In ancient Greece, Men were appointed by Grecian cities to manage property. No record exists of how they functioned. Property management is a very recent development. Evolved from owner-managers in the 19th century to caretaker managers in the early 20th century. Over time, many owners had purchased more properties than they could handle. Caretaker managers would help people out by collecting rent payments, and by doing repairs to the property.

A property manager would usually wear slacks and a button-up shirt with a collar. Dress shirts and turtlenecks are acceptable. With this kind of attire, a property manager would usually work in an office environment, often inside.

An average property manager's salary is around $49,494 with an hourly wage of $16.20, including commission, profit sharing, and bonuses. Like real estate brokers salaries for property managers are also paid higher in different states. Texas has the highest average salary with $96,008 annually. California is ranked 36 of 55 states.

Like real estate a high school diploma can be enough for some people, but it all depends on who hires you. Many companies prefer property managers to have a bachelor's degree in business administration, real estate, accounting, public administration, or finance. Once you've completed your college years numerous professionals are available, including property manager, landlord, building superintendent, and or property caretaker. A property manager is also required to hold a property management license or a real estate broker's license to conduct real estate transactions, some states don't require a license but California does (1). So how do you get a license? You must be eighteen or older, must have a minimum of two years experience as a real estate salesperson, and must have completed the broker licensing exam (3).

To be a property manager some specific skills and qualities need to be met. Property managers need to know the importance of communication with homeowners, communication skills help you better interact with residents. This skill also gives a sense of professionalism (Author, 1). Not communicating enough or not knowing how to explain something can drive homeowners away (2). Paying attention to detail, responsiveness, organization, and flexibility are other qualities of a more successful property manager. These qualities make it seem like you've had multiple years of experience.
