Why doesn't Disney show gays and same-sex marriages? Is Disney trying to hide this from children? Throughout Disney movies, many people are noticing that they do not show any gay characters. Walt wanted to keep his company enjoyable for families of all ages so he kept them appropriate which may be a reason there are no gays because they may seem “inappropriate.”

Disney is known to be child-friendly, which is why there have been no movies about gays made, but they are soon to come out with the first-ever gay movie. Disney films do not include same-sex couples because it just has not been seen as family-friendly. We have to get children used to seeing these things as normal. We've heard a big deal about bringing gay people to Disney, but it should not be a big deal if it is happening in our time as normal.

Andi Mack was the first Disney Channel show to have a coming out story on its channel, this show aired from April 7, 2017, to July 26, 2019, on Disney Channel. This was the first ever show to have a character say ‘I’m gay’ on the Disney channel. “Andi Mack also shows us about learning disabilities, lgbtq rights, anxiety/panic attacks, Asian representation, teen pregnancy, and deaf representation so many things children need to learn about.” This show was believed to be canceled because of the LGBTQ showings.

Although Disney is known to hide gays from children on Tevelish they have Gay Days in Orlando and it is an annual event held as a celebration for the LGBTQ community it is also known as Orlando Gay Days. “An estimated 50,000 red-shirted Gay Days attendees pack Walt Disney World's original park.” The day is not sponsored by Walt Disney World, the people attending for gay days usually stay another day during the celebration to visit the other Disney theme parks.

For Gay Days they have a certain host hotel for people who participate in gay day events, Doubletree by Hilton at Orlando at SeaWorld has been the original host but Wyndham Orlando Resort will take over. Gay Days has many events, including the Miss Gay Days Pageant, the Taste of Gay Days food festival, and Mr. Gay Day Leather, they also have pool parties with a DJ.

Some people seem to think Beauty and the Beast has some LGBTQ seans in it but nothing in the movie was intended to have anything to do with that. Disney movies made before now do not have any gay scenes because they are inappropriate for children.

Walter Elias Disney born 12/05/1901 produced his first ever Disney short, 'It Was About Life in Kansas City,' which was released 03/20/1921. “While Walt was a filmmaker, he acted, produced, and directed almost 1,000 projects.” He took up a big habit of smoking during WWI but in 1966, he was diagnosed with lung cancer that killed him in December of 1966.

Walt was only 65 years old when he died from lung cancer, he did not live to see his own Disney World theme park finished. In 1955, a theme park was built in Anaheim, California. This park was known as Disneyland. As soon as Disneyland opened it became an immediate success. Around the 1960s Walt Disney wanted to build another park in Florida. “Based on the concept started in Disneyland. In 1971, the concept became a reality when Walt Disney World opened in Lake Buena Vista, Florida.”

Walt was married and had two kids with his wife Lillian Disney. He had two daughters named Diane and Sharone Disney.

After Disney's death, his studios continued to make movies but left animation behind until the late 1980s when The Little Mermaid came out. Walt's brother Roy took control of Disney's companies when he died, which led to the expansion of the Epcot center in Disney world. Disney's daughter Diane and her son Walter designed the Walt Disney Family Museum in San Francisco, which also showcases Disney's life and career, showing off his awards and trophies.

“Disney holds the record for most Academy Awards earned by an individual, having won 22 Oscars from 59 nominations.” Walt was a high school dropout when he left school at 16 to become part of the Red Cross Ambulance Corps during WWI, but he was a year short of the maximum age requirement.

Disney is confused about whether he is against or agrees with gays, he hides gays from movies, but he has a day in his theme park dedicated to gays. He was also raised in the days when being gay was looked down upon by society, so it would make more sense for Disney to not involve gays.

Gay rights in 1948 “Kinsey's study of sexuality in the US reveals that 50 percent of American men and 28 percent of American women have 'homosexual tendencies,' shocking the American Public.” Gays were not as common while Disney was alive and they did not have as many rights and privileges as now. It's changing tremendously where gay marriage is legal but they are still bulied and frowned upon as always.

Another reason Disney has not introduced gay marriage and gay scenes into Disney is because some people find it to be offensive and against religion which is another upset people so either way people will always be upset with their decision to put gays in Disney.
